Thanks for coming to check out my web site.  I'd like to take this time to tell you a little more about myself.

Here are some of the more commonly asked questions I hear.

Q:  When did you become interested in magic?
A:  I was only 6 years old at the time I saw my first David Copperfield special on TV.  I remember that the grocery store had some simple tricks in the checkout aisle and everytime I would go grocery shopping with my mom, she'd let me get the newest one in the series.  At about 7, I started performing shows in my neighborhood and charging a quarter for admission.

Q:  What made you decide to go pro?
A:  It was my junior year of college.  I hadn't done magic in about 10 years.  I met a magician by the name of Magic Mike at a restaurant.  He was doing some tricks with sponge balls and some card tricks.  What actually intrigued me the most were his balloon animals.  As a kid, I never had a balloon animal, so I asked for an elephant.  I asked him how to get starting with balloons and he told me about the local magic shop.  I bought a balloon animal kit and within just a couple of weeks I had mastered about 50 animals.  Naturally I became curious about the magic tricks too.  I started spending all my time and money in the magic store.  One lucky Saturday, all the professional magicians in town were booked so they referred a birthday party to me.  I accepted the show.  I loved it so much and had a great time with the kids that I started making myself available to perform at more events.  It was a great way to earn some extra money while in college.

When I graduated, the job market was pretty lousy and I had trouble finding a job in my political science degree, so I just stuck with magic.  I made the right choice.

Q:  What's your favorite magic to perform?
A:  I enjoy it all so much.  My favorite at the time just kind of depends on what new material I'm working on.  If it's a new stage routine, stage performances are my favorites.  If it's a new card trick, close-up performances are my favorites.  I definitely go through phases.  I used to detest cards.  I was inspired by a few tricks I learned and now I use cards as the base of my close-up performances.

Q:  Who is your favorite magician?
A:  I have so many.  The best show I saw was put on by Darren Romeo.  He's one of magic's rising stars -- Siegfried and Roy's protege.  Few have heard of Darren, but if you ever have a chance to see his show, I highly recommend it.  My other favorites are Michael Ammar (my cards inspiration) and Daryl because his incredibly entertaining and high energy approach.
Q:  What do you recommend for somebody to get started in magic?

A:  I would tell you to first check out your local library.  You'd be surprised at all the magic books available for checkout.  Start easy so it doesn't take weeks to master a trick.  Then start performing it.  It doesn't matter that it's easy or you might think it's lame.  You want to gather as much experience performing as you can.  I'd also recommend hanging out at your local magic shop. If you'd like more specific recommendations of sources you should investigate,
email me.  I have many ideas for you.  When you're hanging out at the magic shop, make sure you buy some stuff, master it and go back and show the magician.  Your efforts will be rewarded.  The magicians will start including you in their get togethers.  Also investigate summer classes or camps.   In Gainesville, I teach courses geared towards middle school students at the community college here.

Q:  Do you have any pets?
A:  I have two long-eared partners.  Popcorn or Merlin will make a surprise appearance during the show.
